Cooling with Refrigerants

Some freight needs to be transported in a cool temperature. To keep the temperature this low, one will use refrigerants to succeed in this. Arefrigerantis a substance used in aheat cycleusually including, for enhanced efficiency, a reversiblephase transitionfrom aliquidto agas. Traditionally, fluorocarbons, especially chlorofluorocarbons, were used as refrigerants, but they are being phased out because of theirozone depletioneffects.

Other common refrigerants used in various applications areAmmonia (NH3)Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), and Non-Halogenated Hydrocarbons such as Propane. These are common used in the fishery.
